





The MP4-26 was designed by Paddy Lowe, Neil Oatley, Tim Goss, Andrew Bailey and John Iley and was powered by a customer Mercedes-Benz FO 2.4 L engine. Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, the 2008 and 2009 World Drivers’ Champions, respectively, remained with the team into 2011. Hamilton won three races – China, Germany, and Abu Dhabi and Button also recorded three wins – at Canada, Hungary, and Japan. Button finished the Drivers’ Championship in second place with 270 points behind 2011 Drivers’ Champion Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing, ahead of Hamilton’s 227 points.
