Rahal-Hogan racing team was formed by Bobby Rahal and Carl Hogan in 1992 and competed as Rahal-Hogan until 1995. In 1996, Rahal and Hogan split and Hogan formed Hogan Racing and Rahal led Team Rahal. For the 1998 CART season Carl Hogan entered a single car team with the Finnish driver JJ Lehto, who drove blue and white Reynard powered by Mercedes IC108T turbocharged V8 engine. Lehto abandoned Formula One after 1994 season, and raced in the German Touring Car Championship, DTM, and International Touring Car Championship, ITCC, in 1995 and 1996. For 1998 Hogan signed Lehto for full schedule in CART, but he only managed 20th in points with a best finish of fifth at Surfers Paradise. After an unsuccessful 1998 campaign, Lehto stayed in USA and spent seven seasons in the American Le Mans Series with BMW ant then Cadillac and Audi. He won the ALMS championship in 2004 and was third in 2003 and 2005, driving Audi R8 LMP car.
