The Caterham F1 Team owned by Malaysian Tony Fernandez raced in Formula One in 2012 – 2014. Fernandes’s team originally entered Formula One in 2010 as Lotus Racing, was renamed as Team Lotus 2011, and finally was branded as Caterham following the acquisition of British sportscar manufacturer Caterham Cars by Tony Fernandes. The CT01 was designed under the leadership of the team’s technical director Mike Gascoyne, chief designer Lewis Butler and head of aerodynamics Marianne Hinso. The car was powered by Renault RS27 engine and was driven by Heikki Kovalainen, who drove for the team since 2010, and Vitaly Petrov, who came from Lotus Renault. Both drivers scored no points but Caterham was classified 10th in the constructors’ standings ahead of Marussia and HRT because of higher non-points placing (11th by Petrov in Brazil).
