





Theodore “Teddy” Pilette, Son of André Pilette and grandson of Théodore Pilette, was mostly known by his Le Mans and Formula 5000 records. He won the European Formula 5000 Championship in 1973 with a Chevron B24, and again in 1975 with a Lola T400. He also competed in the US in Formula 5000 and made 3 attempts at the Indy 500. In 1974 Teddy was hired by Bernie Ecclestone’s for one-off drive for his Brabham team at the Belgian Grand Prix. Pilette finished 17th and last, four laps behind the winner, Emerson Fittipaldi in McLaren. Next year Teddy tried his luck in F1 with Stanley BRM team, but failed to qualify in all three rounds where he was entered.
