British John Watson in the 1974 F1 season drove the Brabham BT44 for the Goldie Hexagon Racing team. The team founded by Paul Michaels first entered a Formula One race in 1972, at the non-Championship World Championship Victory Race when Watson was sixth in March 721. In 1974 Goldie Hexagon Racing returned to Formula One and raced a full Championship season, again with John Watson, entering Brabham cars – first BT42 and then BT44 in the final five races of the season. Watson scored three top-6 finishes and was 14th in the final Drivers’ Championship standings. In Italy Watson qualified the car in fourth position, his highest of the season, but only finished in seventh place.
