The JS7 was the second F1 car, after 1976 JS5, built by Guy Ligier’s team. The car was designed by Gérard Ducarouge, was powered by Matra V12 and followed the lines of JS5. Laffite won his and Ligier’s first Grand Prix race at Anderstorp in the 1977 Swedish Grand Prix. Second place in the Dutch Grand Prix and couple of other top-6 finishes slipped him to 10th and Ligier team to 8th in the Championship.
