The 1998 CART season was second of three years when Newman / Haas Racing used Swift chassis – in 1998 it was 009i, slightly modified version of 007i from the previous year. Michel Andretti and Christian Fittipaldi continued to race in the team. Andretti won the first round of the season at Miami, scored several more podiums and was 8th in the final CART drivers’ standings.
