Prost AP01 is the first car constructed by Alain Prost’s own F1 racing team. French triple F1 champion returned to the F1 circus as the team owner the previous season, but in 1997 Prost used Ligier JS45 chassis rebadged as Prost JS45. AP01 was the further evolution of JS45 developed by the same constructors’ team headed by Loic Bigois. Team drivers duo consisted of Olivier Panis who raced his fifth season in Ligier/Prost and Jarno Trulli who was in his first full season with Prost. It was Jarno who scored the single point for the team in 1998 for his 6th position at Belgian Grand Prix. As to Panis, his best result was scored at the first race of the season in Australia where he finished 9th.
