1960, Brumm, Cooper, Jack Brabham, World Champions

1960 Cooper T53 Brabham

Cooper Car Company started the 1960 season with T51, its successful model of the previous year. But after extraordinary performance of new Lotus 18 at races in Argentina in the beginning of the season, team principal John Cooper and designer Owen Maddock have no option rather than to try redevelop T51 into new chassis copying best Lotus technical solutions in in addition to winning Cooper combination of simplicity and reliability. New T53 was born very quickly and was available for Monaco Grand Prix in May. It was more lighter, lower and aerodynamically effective  than T51. Jack Brabham, despite disqualification in Monaco for outside assistance, won four next Championship races and took his second consecutive Drivers’ Championship title. This scale model by Brumm is Jack’s T53 from victorious British GP at Silverstone.
