1993 Williams FW15C Prost

The FW15 model was the Williams F1 car built in 1992 to compete in that’s year Championship from the mid-season to replace FW14 from 1991. But the performance of its predecessor FW14 was so great, that team decided to rely on FW14 for the whole season. FW15 was the direct successor of FW14 featured all the advances including semi-automatic gearbox,  anti-lock brakes, traction control and active suspension. The power was provided by 3.5-litres Renault RS5 V10 engine. In its original form (FW15) the car was used only for testing in 1992. For 1993 season Williams chief designer Adrian Newey modified FW15 to FW15B specification to fit the 1993 regulations featuring narrower front suspension, narrower rear tyres, raised nose and wing endplates, and narrower wings. The FW15B also was used only in 1993 pre-season testing. For the season the car got the index FW15C. It was driven by Alain Prost, who returned to the sport after a sabbatical after being fired by Ferrari in 1991, and Damon Hill, who came from the defunct Brabham team. The dominance Williams had shown in 1992 continued into 1993, and the two Williams drivers would often qualify a second or two clear of the rest of the field. Williams scored ten victories from the 16 race season, comfortably securing 1-2 in the World Drivers Championship, and the World Constructors Championship title. Alain Prost took his third and last title  by winning 7 Grand Prix finishing ahead of his major rival Ayrton Senna  and teammate Damon Hill. At the end of the season, Prost retired from Grand Prix racing, decided that he’d rather not drive alongside Senna in 1994. The model is from Altaya 100 Ans de Sport Automobile , where it was designated as FW15B.
