The PS03 designed by Gabriele Tedozzi was the Paul Stoddard owned and Faenza-based team’s hope for the 2003 Formula One season. The chassis was built, but at the beginning of the year the team appeared to have no sponsors, engines or tyres. Malaysian sponsors KL and engine supplier Asiatech were gone due to Alex Yoong’s departure to Champ Car. Eventually team agreed with Cosworth and Bridgestone to get engine and tyres. Old 72 degree V10’s Cosworth was reliable but less powerful engine on the grid. Team drivers for the season were F1 debutant Justin Wilson and experienced Jos Verstappen who came back to the big circus after a year off. Jos also brought the Dutch company Trust which joined the team as the main sponsor since the 2003 Monaco Grand Prix. Verstappen finished in 10 races out of 16 (best as out-of-points 9th in Canada). Wilson saw the checkered flag only 4 times in his 10 races for Minardi before he moved to Jaguar after 2003 British Grand Prix. Justin’s best for Faenza team was 11th position in Spanish Grand Prix. For the Brit, the 2003 season was his one and only F1 championship. For the next season he moved to US where he drove next 12 years in ChampCar and then IndyCar series until his fatal crash during 500 miles race at Pocono Raceway in 2015.
