Wilbur Shaw was the first driver who won two consecutive editions of famous Indianapolis 500 in 1939-1940. Both times he had driven to victory the same Maserati 8CTF vehicle officially entered as Boyle Special. He also led the 1941 race until having to retire. Maserati 8CTF cars were built by Maserati factory according to 3-lotre GP formula in 1938 and were used in Grand prix racing in 1938-39. In 1939 several 8CTF were sold to US, including Shaw’s car, and were entered in Indy 500 until 1950s by the number of owners.
