Wolf WR1 designed by Harvey Postlethwaite for Walter Wolf Racing has the privilege to be a car which won his first F1 race. It was when Jody Scheckter won on its début at the 1977 Argentine Grand Prix. Scheckter continued to race for Wolf in the following season and for the last two races of 1978 season in North America second car was given to future American Indy Car star Bobby Rahal. In 1977 Rahal finished second in Formula Atlantic Championship behind Gilles Villeneuve. The following year, he competed in European Formula Three with Wolf Racing and was granted the F1 drive at the end of the year. The deal with Wolf did not continue into the 1979 season, as Wolf signed up James Hunt for the one and only car available. Rahal briefly continued in F2 before returning to North America to build very successful career at the home soil.
