The SA07 was the development of SA06 from 2006. The car was designed by Peter McCool and was powered by Honda RA807E V8 engine. The new car initially failed the FIA crash test, and Super Aguri pushed back the launch of its new car by two days, with the reworked SA07 unveiled two days before the first practice session for the Australian Grand Prix. During the season the car performed surprisingly well, comparing to 2006 model. Takuma Sato achieved two finishes in points (8th in Spain and 6th in Canada). His teammate Anthony Davidson, former BAR and Honda test driver in 2004 – 2006, finished the season in 23rd place having scored no points.
