Ferrari 312B was the first model in line of B – B2 – B3, used in 1970 – 1975. With this car, designed by Mauro Forghieri and powered by newly developed flat-12 engine, Scuderia returned to winning performance. Unlucky Chris Amon left the team, while Jacky Ickx came back joined by Clay Regazzoni. Ickx won three races in the second half of the 1970 season (in Austria, Canada, ad Mexico) and moved to the 2nd place in the final Championship standing.
