At the end of 2009, Daimler-Benz acquired the Aabar Investments’ share in Brawn GP and became the owner of the F1 team. Thus, the Mercedes returned to big races after a 55-year hiatus. Ross Brawn retained his position as technical director, as well as a large part of the engineering staff. The new Mercedes was an evolution of the Brown BGP001 car, and the famous Michael Schumacher sat behind the wheel of the car, returning to racing after a three-year break. He was accompanied by Niko Rosberg, who came from Williams. The season for fresh works team was not successful. After last year’s championship, the team has not won a single race. Rosberg was able to finish on the podium several times and took only 7th place in the championship. For Michael, things were even worse. He has never climbed to the top three and finished the season in 9th position.
