The Red Bull car for the 2020 season, RB16, was largely based on its predecessor the RB15. The RB16 featured a narrower nose with two additional inlets at its front, smaller sidepod inlets, and redesigned bargeboard area and front multi-link suspension. The car was powered by Honda RA620H and driven by Max Verstappen and Alex Albon, both of whom were retained by the team for a fifth and second season respectively. Verstappen, to whose driver’s style the car was fitted, tried to compete with the Mercedes, winning two Grand Prix and taking 3rd final position in the Championship. As to Albon, British-Thai driver was in the shadow of Verstappen, being usually more than half a second behind in qualifications and could not compete with the Mercedes in the races. After the season Albon was demoted to the role of reserve and development driver for 2021, his race seat being taken by Sergio Pérez.
