With the new RS20 the Renault team, which entered its fifth season as a constructor, was aimed to be ‘the best of the rest’ in 2020. The car based on its predecessor the RS19 featured improved aerodynamics with narrowed nose and smaller front wing elements. The car was run with the E-Tech 20 power unit which has evolved from previous year’s concept, with reliability the primary focus. Driven by Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon, Renault was quite close to meet the target of the year – the team finished the season fifth, just a little behind McLaren and Racing Point. Ricciardo took two podiums and finished in 5th position in the championship standings with 119 points, while Ocon scored almost twice less points and was 12th in the standings.
