





Sauber’s car for the 2001 season was designed by Sergio Rinland and powered by Petronas-branded ’01A’ 3-liter V10 engine supplied by Scuderia Ferrari. The team drivers for 2001 were Nick Heidfeld and rookie Kimi Raikkonen. German pilot finished 3rd at Interlagos achieving his first career podium and was 8th in the Championship with 12 points. Raikkonen was a 21-year-old debutant and lacked major single-seater experience, but managed to score point on his debut and a further four points-scoring finishes throughout the year. Sauber would finish the season with 21 points and 4th place in the Constructors’ World Championship standings.
