In the 1995 PPG Indy Car World Series Marlboro Team Penske competed in brand new Penske PC-24 car powered by Mercedes Benz IC10 engine, as Mercedes-Benz became the badging manufacturer for the Ilmor Indy car engines. Al Unser Jr., reigning IndyCar series champion, and Emerson Fittipaldi drove for the team which went from three cars to two. Unser won the 4th round of the series, the Long Beach Grand Prix, but then Al along with teammate Fittipaldi, failed to qualify at Indianapolis. Three more victories (at Portland, Mid Ohio and Vancouver) helped Unser to finish runner-up in the 1995 series.
