Samuel Jon (Sam) Hornish Jr. began driving in the IndyCar Series in 2000 for PDM Racing. Before the 2001 Indy Racing League season, Hornish moved to Panther Racing to drive the No. 4 yellow Dallara IR01-Oldsmobile Aurora sponsored by Pennzoil. In 2001 he won 3 races (at Phoenix, Homestead and Texas and clinched first of his threes Champion titles in IRL. The 2002 season was very successful for Sam as well. Hornish was able to defend his title winning three out of 15 IRL rounds. Yellow Pennzoil Dallara finised first in Homestead, Fontana, Richmond, Chicagoland, and Texas. Hornish is widely regarded as one of the best oval track open-wheel racers in history. Before switching to NASCAR in 2008 he scored 19 wins in his 116 starts, including Indy-500 in 2006.
