Eddie Cheever ran his own team in Indy Racing League in 1996 – 2006, combining the roles of team owner and driver all that seasons except 2003-05. For 2002 Eddie enlisted the support of the Red Bull, and the team was renamed to Red Bull Cheever Racing. The cars painted in Red Bull colors were driven by Cheever himself and by IndyCar rookie Thomas Schecker, son of 1979 Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter. Cheever best result was 5th positions at Indy-500 and Chicagoland, while Scheckter won Michigan Indy 400.
