The RP19 was the first car built by Racing Point after their purchase of the Force India Formula One Team assets in August 2018. It was designed by Andrew Green (technical director), and chief designers Akio Haga and Ian Hall, and was powered by Mercedes M10 EQ Power+ engine rebadged as BWT Mercedes. The RP19 was driven by Sergio Pérez and Lance Stroll. Stroll finished his first season at Racing Point in 15th place in the championship with 21 points, considerably below teammate’s 52 points, having been out-qualified by Pérez 18-3 over the season’s 21 races.
