





After win in Formula König championship in 1988, Michael Schumacher debuted in Formula 3 in 1989. He drove Reynard 893 – Volkswagen for WTS Racing in the German F3 Championship, won two rounds and was 3rd in the Drivers’ standings only one point behind the champion Karl Wendlinger and with equal points with runner-up Heinz-Harald Frentzen. After the German season Schumacher also started at European Formula 3 Cup – a Formula Three race held annually in Europe from 1985 to 1990 and 1999 to 2004; and at Macau Grand Prix, the most prestigious Formula 3 race. Michael retired in both season closing events.
