Tyrrell 011 was designed in 1981 to replace the older 010 in the final third of the season. Designed by Maurice Philippe and powered by conventional Ford Cosworth DFV, The 011 raced in three seasons of Formula One (1981 – 1983) although its only full season was 1982. Swede Slim Borgudd drove the 011 in first three races of the 1982 season. He finished 16th, 7th and 10th at South African, Brazilian, and USA West Brand Prixs, respectively. But then his sponsorship money ran out, and Borgudd was unceremoniously dumped by Ken Tyrrell and to be replaced by another paid driver Brian Henton.
