Tomas Scheckter, son of 1979 Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter, raced in IRL since 2002. For the 2004 season he moved from Chip Ganassi Racing to panther Racing to drive #4 Pennzoil-sponsored Dallara. Tomas achieved his best results of the season at the first race of the year, finishing 5th in the Grand Prix of Miami held at Homestead Speedway. It was his only top-10 finish in the 2004, and Scheckter final position in the drivers’ championship was 19th with 230 points.
