Samuel Jon (Sam) Hornish Jr. began driving in the IndyCar Series in 2000 for PDM Racing. Before the 2001 Indy Racing League season, Hornish moved to Panther Racing to drive the No. 4 yellow Dallara IR01-Oldsmobile Aurora sponsored by Pennzoil. In 2001 he won 3 races (at Phoenix, Homestead and Texas and clinched first of his threes Champion titles in IRL. Hornish repeated his success in 2002 and 2006 winning his 2nd and 3rd IndyCar championships. Hornish is widely regarded as one of the best oval track open-wheel racers in history. Before switching to NASCAR in 2008 he scored 19 wins in his 116 starts, including Indy-500 in 2006.
