





The TS9B was the slightly updated version of the TS9 car, used by Team Surtees in 1971. John Surtees retired from driving to take on the management side of the team and hired Australian Tim Schenken and Italian Andrea de Adamich. Mike Hailwood drove the car under the banner of Brooke Bond Oxo team Surtees, Tim Schenken started with Brooke Bond and then moved to Team Surteess and Flame Out Team Surtees colors; de Adamich entry was sponsored by Ceramica Pagnossin. The season began with the 1972 Argentine Grand Prix, Schenken finished fifth and de Adamich retired with fuel system failure. Then de Adamich scored his first points in F1 finishing 4th in in the Spanish GP at Jarama. It was his only pint finish of the season.
