After two successful seasons in CART “Big Nige” signed to drive for McLaren in 1995. As he could not fit into the narrow car, Mansell was deputized by Mark Blundell for the opening two rounds in Brazil and Argentina. For the San Marino race his car was completed, but after just two starts Mansell become frustrated over car’s handling characteristics, and he chose to retire after just two races with the team.
