The March 761B used in the 1977 season, was a slightly modified version of the 761 with the shortened wheelbase. The works team’s cars were run by inexperienced drivers Ian Scheckter (as Team Rothmans International) and Alex Diaz Ribeiro (as Hollywood March Racing), both did not score any points. In the South African and USA-West Grand Prix Scheckter was replaced by Hans-Joachim Stuck and Brian Henton, respectively. Henton finished 10th in Long Beach. He had three more attempts to qualify that season in another March 761 run by his own British Formula One Racing Team.
