1983 Williams FW08C Rosberg

The FW08C was the Williams Team Formula One car for the 1983 season driven by 1982 World Champion Keke Rosberg and Jacques Laffite. The car actually used the same chassis and running gear as its predecessor FW08 from 1982, but looked significantly different. The major visual change was minimalistic side pods fitted on either side of the engine to house the radiators. Due to ground effect ban full length  side pods were no longer needed. FW08C used the same engine then the the previous year – 3 litre normally aspirated V8  Ford Cosworth DFV which developed around 530 bhp – significantly less than turbo-powered Ferrari, Renault and BMW motors. Rosberg did manage to win the Monaco Grand Prix on the streets of Monte Carlo where power is not that critical. He would eventually finish fifth in the Drivers’ Championship, while Williams finished 1983 in fourth place, the best of the non-turbo-powered cars.
