The World economic crisis forced Honda to leave Formula 1 and to sell the team to team principal Ross Brawn at the end of 2008. The RA108, the last works Formula 1 Honda, was designed by Shuhei Nakamoto (Technical Director), Jörg Zander (Deputy Technical Director), Kevin Taylor (Chief Designer), and Loic Bigois (Head of Aerodynamics). Japanese team retained the drivers from the previous two seasons – Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello. The last Honda season wasn’t very impressive. The car was regular mid-of-the field runner, and both drivers rarely scored the points. The best moment of the season was at the wet British Grand Prix when Barrichello managed a podium due to right choice of full wet weather tyres at the right moment. The Turkish Grand Prix was Barrichello’s 257th F1 start, breaking Patrese’s record of 256 Grand Prix starts and becoming the most experienced driver in F1 history. Special livery marking the achievement was used by Rubinho in that race.
