The Toro Rosso STR3 designed by Rob Marshall, Geoff Willis and Adrian Newey, debuted at the 6th round of the 2008 Championship in Monaco Grand Prix. The team started the season with STR2B, the second specification of the model used in 2007. The old car was driven by F1 debutant four-time CART champion Sebastien Bourdais to 7th place at the season opening Australian Grand Prix, but it was the only point finish for Toro Rosso in first 6 rounds. After switching to STR3, things went much better. But not with a Frenchman, but with a German Sebastian Vettel, who also was in his first full season in F1 after some experience with Sauber and Toro Rosso in 2007. Young German drove the STR3 to many point finishes and to victory in the Italian Grand Prix, the team’s and Vettel’s first win.
