The FW30 was developed based on the FW29 from 2007. It was also powered by Toyota RVX engine in new 08-spec. Like its predecessor, the FW30 was able to demonstrate a good performance sporadically. Nico Rosberg began the season with impressive 3rd place at Australian Grand Prix, the first podium finish of his career, which was added by 6th position of his new teammate Kazuke Nakajima. However, the next races saw the team slipping backwards and struggling for few points from time to time. At the final part of the season Rosberg was second at the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix (his best result for 4 years with Williams), and finished 13th in the Drivers’ Championship with 17 points.
