The Ferrari F1 2020 car was designated SF1000 to refer Ferrari’s 1000 Grand Prix entry to be achieved that season. In fact it was the worst performing Ferrari car for 40 years – since 1980. The major problem was the power unit which lost 65 bhp compared to the SF90. Controversial FIA investigation of claimed violation of technical regulations on fuel flow restrictions by Ferrari in 2019 resulted in no penalty to Scuderia, but tightening of fuel flow regulations for the 2020 season affected Ferrari more than others. The season was also a disaster for Vettel, who was far from his teammate Charles Leclerc in most races as well as in overall standings. The only podium (in Turkish Grand Prix) can hardly be considered a consolation.
