The VF-20 designed by Rob Taylor and Ben Agathangelou and driven by Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, both competed for Haas for the fourth consecutive year, was powered by the 2020 Ferrari power unit, paired to a 2019 Ferrari 8-speed gearbox. Haas was not the strongest chassis on the grid anyway, and problems with the Ferrari engine made the situation even worse. Grosjean scored just 2 points for 9th position at the Eifel Grand Prix, while Magnussen got a single point finishing 10th in Hungary. At the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix, Grosjean suffered a serious crash on the first lap in which his Haas VF-20 hit a barrier at high speed. Lucky French driver escaped serious injuries, but this spectacular episode marked the end of his career in Formula One.
