The Toro Rosso was rebranded for the 2020 Formula One World Championship to Alpha Tauri in order to promote the Alpha Tauri fashion brand. According to Red Bull and Alpha Tauri team principals Helmut Marko and Franz Tost, Scuderia Alpha Tauri is no longer the junior team but the sister team to Red Bull Racing. In its first season under new name, AT continued with Daniil Kvyat and Pierre Gasly, the duo which drove Scuderia Toro Rosso cars in the second half of the 2019 season. The team was a stable midfield runner and regular point scorer. The highest point of the season was the Italian Grand Prix where AlphaTauri achieve their first Grand Prix victory with Pierre Gasly. The French driver finished the season as high as 10th, while Kvyat was 14th in the standings with 32 points, compared to 75 points by Gasly. The contract of the Russian driver was not renewed and Yuki Tsunoda replaced Kvyat at Alpha Tauri for 2021. Gasly was retained for the next season, somewhat surprisingly not being promoted back to senior Red Bull team.
