The last appearance of HWM cars in Formula One Grand Prix has occurred in 1955. British driver Ted Whiteaway entered his private car for the Monaco Grand Prix, but did not qualify for the race being 16 seconds slower than best time set by Fangio in Mercedes-Benz W196. Whiteaway’s car was the 1953 chassis with modified bodywork, powered by 2.5-litres straight 4 Alta engine.
