The Red Bull RB16B raced in the 2021 Formula 1 season was based on the RB16 used in 2020. The car was driven by Max Verstappen and Mexican Sergio Perez, who came from racing Point to replace Alex Albon. Perez won the Azerbaijan Grand prix and finished the season 4th. Verstappen took 10 victories, two more than his principal rival Lewis Hamilton, and won the Championship in final lap of the controversial final round in Abu Dhabi.
For the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul circuit Honda clients Red Bull and AlphaTauri used special Honda tribute liveries, as Japanese engine supplier announced the quit from Formula 1. Red Bull’s white and red tribute livery was inspired by Honda F1 cars of the 1960s.
