Racing modification of the popular Renault Premium truck, which was in production in 1996 – 2013, was actively used by many teams in European truck racing. One of the teams was Frankie Truck Racing Team created by Czech racing driver Frantisek (Frankie) Vojtisek. Vojtísek has been regular participant in the European Truck Racing Championship events since 1987. From his debut in 87 right through to 1999 he was racing Czech LIAZ or Skoda LIAZ trucks. In 2000 he founded his own team which was sponsored by Renault Trucks between 2000 and 2009, and he was seen in cockpits of red Renault Premium specials. In the 2008 ETRC Frankie Team was represented by Vojtosek himself and 29-years old Austrian driver Markus Altenstrasser. Austrian raced in ETRC since 2006 till 2017. He debuted in MAN for Truck Race Team Allgäuer in 2006 and finished the season 9th. In 2007 Markus joined Frankie Truck Racing Team and raced for Czech squad for three seasons. His best result of the year was 3rd places positions in qualification and main races at Most. Vojtisek won the first race in Barcelona, the opening round of the season, but did not score any podium further. In the final 2008 ETRC drivers’ standings Altenstrasser was 6th, and Vojtisek 10th.
