There are many companies, big and small, that produce now or have produced in the past scale models of Formula One and Grand Prix racing cars. Some of them are primarily specialize on racing models, while others have them among their wider production lines. For modern and historic F1 cars the leaders are definitely Minichamps and Spark, both with respect to quality and variety. Brumm and Rio have the widest range of classic and pre-war racing cars. The specialty of IXO in terms of F1 is the production of diecast scale models for many magazine series distributed by publishing houses by subscription and press kiosks. Many other brands also have or had Grand Prix and Formula One cars in their catalogs. Along with companies that produce finished models, there are a number of small firms (Tameo, FDS, Villa Model, Meri Kits and others) making kits for assembling. Usually this is an important source of rare model cars from the back rows of the starting grid.
